Leaders seek something better

My work builds on the belief that leadership is the defining characteristic of every great organisation or team.

You cannot outperform your leadership.

Leadership expectations are changing, daily, and the stakes have never been higher.

Developing leaders who can navigate complexity is now a cultural and strategic priority. But it goes beyond technical leadership capability, we must develop leaders with character, courage, humility and compassion.

Even though leadership can be lonely, you do not have to be alone.

Our offering is designed for leaders who know that personal leadership effectiveness drives team and organisational performance and that there must be a better, more efficient and effective way to learn leadership.

If leadership doesn’t scale, neither will the organisation.

The lessons learned and earned as leaders developed their craft ‘In the Arena’

To embrace the expectations of your role, welcome the responsibilities and pressures as a privilege, a right you have earned, and be energised by the opportunities they provide.

The moments that meet you where you are but never leave you where they found you.

More to the game

What leaders can learn from football?

Moments of the Match

Watching the 2025 season unfold with the moments that matter.

I have set myself to capture an image from each week, and then put some words to it.

The game is measured in moments - when games are won and lost, when players must demonstrate the special something the situation demands.

Leadership is also measured in these moments - the crucible of challenge where our leadership identity is forged.

It is what the role expects of us.

There has never been a better time to lead

Q: “What does the role expect of me?”

A: “Create the conditions that enable this group to perform at its best.”

At age 24, I was the youngest CEO in the 160-year history of the AFL, the preeminent professional sporting competition in the country. It was 25 years of intense learning in the unforgiving, unrelenting and often ruthless environment of elite sport.

Over the past decade, I have been invited into the inner lives of CEOs, and leaders - established and emerging - ranging from rapid scale-ups to established global brands, as well as the inner sanctums of their leadership teams, working together to identify and apply practical and evidence-based leadership solutions to the most vexing challenges that organisations face today.

Leadership is not what is happening inside you, generally in response to what is happening around you. As a leader, you are only measured by one thing:

“How you show up!”

I am forever grateful to the former, and I share many of these learnings.
